Getting Started With Your New Website: A Checklist

Launch day is exciting, but it’s also when small mistakes are easiest to miss. Here’s a short checklist worth running through in the first week.

Before you announce it

  • Test every form (contact, newsletter signup) end to end — including the confirmation email
  • Check the site on an actual phone, not just a resized browser window
  • Click every link in the main navigation and footer
  • Confirm your business name, address, and phone number match everywhere they appear

In the first week

  • Set up analytics so you’re not flying blind on traffic
  • Submit your sitemap to Google Search Console
  • Ask two or three people outside your team to try to find something specific on the site — watch where they get stuck

Ongoing

  • Put a recurring reminder on the calendar to update the blog or services page — stale content is one of the fastest ways a new site starts to feel abandoned

A launched site is a starting point, not a finish line. The sites that keep paying off are the ones someone keeps tending.
